So back in 2012 for the Boy Scouts Fundraiser, we purchased a stay at the Hyatt, Downtown Denver. It somehow got lost in the shuffle of the move and our busy lives. I came across the certificate while cleaning one day and realized it would expire in April of this year. We quickly called and reserved a room for Valentine’s Night. I was amazed that they had any rooms left for that night! Shocker! So February 14th finally arrived and we were on our own! The room was gorgeous, they had remodeled it since the last time we stayed there. We book a hotel night together just once a year, either for a birthday, Anniversary, or Valentine’s day, for some quality quiet time. We’ve done it pretty much every year since I was pregnant with Travis, so five years. Best tradition ever!
We didn’t actually do much for our Anniversary last year since we were in Salt Lake City with family at the time and we didn’t do anything for either of our birthday’s together, so Valentine’s Day it was!
We found out once we checked in at the hotel, that who ever made the certificate, gave the purchaser the club level access. All this meant was we had access to the 26th floor where the club room was. It had TV, beverages, snack foods, desserts, and a lovely sitting area. Its also where they serve the free breakfast in the mornings. It was really neat! So we had some fruit before we left for the evening.
Since the hotel is so close to the 16th Street mall, we decided to find a place to eat in that area. We ended up at Los Cabos Dos, which is a wonderful Peruvian restaurant . We had eaten there before a few years prior with some really good friends. It isn’t located directly on the 16th Street Mall but its close so it wasn’t too much of a walk.
Love all the Llamas!
I had the noodle dish, it was SO good! We also had papa lauan caina, I have no idea how to spell it! It was our appetizer and it was SO good! Eggs, potatoes, and this yummy yellow sauce. SO GOOD! I can’t for the life of me remember what Joe ordered. It was all so good though. Loved it! Can’t wait to go back!
Our view from the room the next morning. Denver is such a gorgeous city.
Breakfast!!! So good.
Someone kept letting loose heart shaped balloons. It was quite entertaining. They would just float by every now and then.
We ended up browsing the outlets at Castle Rock and then stopping at Tokyo Joe’s for lunch before heading home. It was a really great weekend and I couldn’t have spent it with anyone better.
I love you Joe!
