growing up

I dropped both of my boys off at their last day of school this morning. It broke my heart to be honest. Tears just started welling up in my eyes and I just could not figure out why. Then I realized, this means my boys are growing up. The last day of school this year means Enoch will be in the 2nd grade in the fall and Travis won’t be in preschool, he’ll be in Pre-Kindergarten. And then he’ll be going to Kindergarten in the fall of 2014 and Enoch will be in the 3rd grade. This is hard. Yes, I have Gwen at home to keep me company but honestly, my boys are growing up. And before I know it, they’ll be graduating high school and going off to serve missions. Oh ouch, did you feel that? I sure did. The pain and sadness a mother feels almost every day when they come to the realization that their children are only children for so long. So I need to focus on the little things, the small things that help them become amazing adults. Giving them the love and attention they need to feel confident and cared for. Disciplining with love and patience so they can better understand right from wrong and why its so much easier and leads to a happier life when the right choices are made and helping them understand consequences.

It is times like these that make me so grateful for the gospel. Just knowing that Families are Forever, brings me so much peace. I can be with my husband and children for eternities. What a true and wonderful blessing. I love my boys, I love my daughter, I love my husband, I love my family and I love my Heavenly Father & Savior. They are all blessings to me.

This became a lot more emotional than I had planned! So, for your viewing pleasure, My Handsome Boys on their last day of school!

Gwenevere hit 5 months!

Gwen turned 5 months on Tuesday. Where has the time gone? Really?

She enjoys her brothers' rambunctiousness, sitting in her Bumbo, playing in her exer-saucer, chewing on anything in sight, getting her diaper changed (weird, I know), snuggling in bed in the mornings, getting kisses from anyone, sticking her tongue out as far as it can go, reaching for and grabbing anything I have in my hands, playing with her toys, dancing to music, singing and talking to us and so much more. She is just about sitting up on her own and would love to be on the move with her big brothers.

She is still sleeping through the night like a pro which is nice for Joe and I since Travis still wakes up in the middle of the night and climbs into bed with us.

She is very interested in food and it seems she really can't wait to turn 6 months so she can start eating a little bit of what we're having.

Gwen always has the biggest smile for everyone. She's so happy and so friendly, she's just a delight to have in our little family.

Her pretty eyes are still blue and she just adores her Daddy.

change

After almost 7 years at his current job, Joe is moving in a different direction. Starting Monday, Joe begins his journey at a new company. He will be a project manager for a roofing company. One that has been ranked 8th in the nation. He's very excited and maybe a little bit nervous.

It's interesting. At every major event in our lives, Joe has changed jobs.
1. We got married and he began working for a concrete company
2. Enoch was born and he started working for Brett at CQL
3. We bought a house and now he's starting at this new company.

I wonder what's next?

Joe has enjoyed the past 7 years working for his best friend. He went as far as he could go with that company and learned so many skills. Joe is a pretty accomplished construction/carpenter/plumber/
electrical/flooring/tiling/painting machine now! Now he's off to learn a new skill.

So, best of luck to Joe on this new quest.
May he be successful and happy!
