Number 2

So this is a little late….

March 13 thru 21 2011 113March 13 thru 21 2011 114March 13 thru 21 2011 115

What can I say? I am officially a mother of a 2 year old, for the second time.
Travis turned 2 on the 16th of March. He is such a great little boy to have in our family. He is constantly making us laugh with his antics and his attitude.

He’s a tough “little” brother and can dish out just as much as Enoch can. They play well together, and they can also fight well together.

Travis is the one word wonder, he learns a new word every single day and sometimes, he learns two or three. And they’re clear words, not just made up versions of the word he’s aiming for. He’s like a parrot, he just repeats everything we say. Sometimes he’ll repeat words in a song as he hears it. He is definitely the second child, he can get your attention the second he wants it by screaming or just yelling your name over and over, he’s awesome at that. He loves the outdoors. He doesn’t understand why you can’t eat dirt. Cars are still his favorite but Transformers is now in a close second. When he “transforms”, he makes the sound they make in the cartoon, hilarious! He sings the “Touch” song and “Dare”. He loves to dance, eat anything in sight, pester his brother, snuggle his Tutu & Papa, give kisses, get into trouble, and sometimes he even loves hugging his brother.

Travis also LOVES to brush his teeth. All you have to do is say, “Teeth” and he goes running for the bathroom. He’s the same with his tubby time. He just adores it! He will help you clean up Enoch’s mess, but he’ll sort of goof off for a few minutes if its his mess and then he’ll help you. Travis loves to watch people. I think sometimes he understands us better than we think. He is extremely stubborn and refuses until he gets his way. And this little guy has a temper – big time!

He loves to watch Despicable Me, his favorite line is, “Whaaaaaaat?”. He digs hanging out with his Grandmom & Grandpa and eating all their yummy snacks.

These 2 years have flown by and it just doesn’t seem fair, my baby is growing up. He’s not a baby anymore!

The Birth Story

Photos of New Travis

Travis’s best friend is his Daddy, he loves to hang out with him and misses him when he’s gone. Most mornings,

that is the first word out of his mouth, “Daddy?”.

Travis is a blast and we love having him around. The two years have just flown by Trav because you’re so much fun.

We’re so blessed to have him in our lives and are grateful to our Heavenly Father for sending him our way.

We couldn’t have asked for a better #2. ; )

We Love You Travis!

Miss M

Maya Shoot March 24 3011 058EditBW2

So, I love this little girl!! Enoch adores her too. He’ll ask randomly if she’s going to come over and play.

Her Grandmother asked me if I could take photos of her because they found this AWESOME little dress.

It was a blast photographing little Miss M and I hope I get the opportunity to do so again!

Whats in a Book? Really?

Ok, so I don't normally do stuff like this, at least, I hope I don't. : /

I've been reading more books lately and have found that when I venture out of the Young Adult book land (Twilight, Harry Potter, etc), I come across some pretty offensive and inappropriate material. Its really sad because the sexual content and/or language really does not make a book better so I've been perplexed as to why a writer feels they need to add such content.

ANYWHO - I'm a BIG time supporter of the movie rating website Kids In Mind. I've been a supporter of this website for years now. They have a special rating system, they rate sex/nudity, violence/gore and profanity. Its a simply rating system and they tell you why they rated the movie the way they did. Its just nice to know what you're getting into before hand, as far as movies go. Its not a biased rating system either. They're just telling you what content is in a movie in more detail than a PG-13 or R rating does.

So after these books that I've been reading lately, I began to wonder why on EARTH they don't have the same rating system as Kids in Mind does??? And you might say, there are millions of books out there. Well, there are millions of movies out there as well. SO, I did some googling.

I came up with these gems:

Rated Reads
This book reviewer and former book page editor rates books as "None, Mild, Moderate, High and DIRT". DIRT actually stands for, "Don't Invest Reading Time". I've read some of her/his ratings for books I've already read and find them spot on. There are quite a few books that I couldn't find on this website but they do have a vast library of reviews and ratings.

Good Clean Reads Blog
This blog is run by an LDS lady who just loves to read. She had the same feelings that I do about rating systems for books and she actually rates her reads with a similar system to Kids In Mind. You can find her detailed rating system on her blog. She has done tons of ratings and reviews.

And lastly:

MAW Books Blog
I really enjoyed reading this blog and her reviews. She doesn't have a rating system as the two sites above but she does clear up the skewed line between RAVE Book reviews for a dirty book and actual good clean books.

I didn't make this post to poo poo on people reading inappropriate books out there, we all have a different opinion on what makes us comfortable while reading and what doesn't. I just wanted to post this in case you had the same curiosity that I did; is there a way to find out what content is in a book before actually reading it? And there is!

So I hope this helps!
Thanks for listening!

we are just having babies right and left over here. I was fortunate enough to photograph Mom and Baby Hales here.

they were a pleasure and an ease to shoot. We had fun. Dad Hales has been blessed with two very sweet ladies.
