Enoch's Accident

I like it when Sundays are nice and relaxing, don't you? Church went well, nothing dramatic happened, dinner was nice, the missionaries came for dinner; it was really going well. All I wanted to do after everyone left was curl up on my bed with my hubby and watch a show on tv.
....Needless to say, that didn't happen. Around 8 pm last night, Enoch was playing outside with his cousins. We have this large metal swing in the backyard that kids love to swing on; Enoch isn't a huge fan of it and doesn't really ever play on the thing. Well, his cousins were swinging on it and Enoch got smacked in the mouth by the thing. It was a total accident but when you when you see your child with blood gushing down his face you tend to have some interesting emotions. Sometimes swear words and bad names pass through your mind and you really want to find whoever hurt your child and just smack them. Well, I fought back all of that and just focused on Enoch. Joe took him to the bathroom to clean up the blood and try to figure out just where all of it was coming from. Many wet paper towels later, we discovered that Enoch's Frenulum
(click on link for details)
was torn. Its that little flap of skin at the top of your two front teeth. Enoch never shed a tear, the blood just freaked him out a little. Tough kid!

So we drove to the ER. It just looked way to deep not to go. I would much rather go and wait at the ER and gain piece of mind than worry all night long if my kid was going to die or not. Well, not die, but you know what I mean. So we get to the ER at 8:30, get called to triage by 9 and then wait to see a Doctor until 10. Once they called us in to see a Doctor Enoch was just exhausted and wanted to go home. The Doctor came and examined Enoch, checked his jaw for fractures, checked his teeth to see if anything was loose, etc. Everything was just fine. Turns out, since the tear was RIGHT ON the frenulum, he didn't need stitches. Had it been anywhere else, he would have needed them but apparently, the frenulum heals REALLY well and since its in his mouth, it should be healed in 3 days. YAH! So we left the ER around 11 pm.

I'm really glad we decided to go. I never would have thought to check his jaw for fractures, never. We did check right away to see if he had lost any teeth though, that's a given.

First trip to the ER for boy accidents, not too shabby. I was so worried when he woke up this morning that he would be in pain but the little guy is pain free. His upper lip is swollen and there is a little blood blister on his lip but other than that, he's fine.

Here are just a few photos of his little lip. He absolutely refused to let me pull his lip up and to be honest, I don't blame him. Crazy me for asking.

Oh no! what a way to ruin the sabbath :) I'm glad it wasn't worse than it could've been. That is pretty good that it was only your first ER trip, especially with other "boy cousins" It's never fun seeing a lot of blood, what a strong boy! Miss u guys
